Pure fun, plain and simple.

A woman wakes up in Paris with armed thugs after her. She seems to be on the run? But she doesn’t really know because she can’t seem to recall anything about herself, not even her first name. When she sees a video clip of a “wanted” woman on TV she realizes she must be a spy. But when actual spy (No. An operative.), Jack Sawyer, finds her, she quickly realizes she’s no spy, but her twin sister is. Can Jack and this woman (later figuring out at the very least her name is Zoe) clear her sister’s name, stay out of danger, and keep themselves from falling in love along the way? They’ll accomplish some but not all of this.

Full of adventure and hijinks, I had to suspend my disbelief with this one a bit because I always do with amnesia storylines, but I couldn’t get enough of Zoe’s vibrant personality and Sawyer’s tortured “I’m undeserving” attitude. I loved the way Zoe’s amnesia opened the door for her to reinvent herself; she didn’t know her own weaknesses or past and so she had no choice to become a much stronger version of herself. And her brightness brought out the best qualities in Sawyer, a man who thought he’d only live in the shadows.

I’d highly recommend this, especially as a palate cleanser read. It’s got a high dose of cheesy, but I loved it!

  • This one includes no on-page intimacy although it is implied. A couple chapters fade-to-black before going into detail.
