This was a bit of a fever dream. The unnamed main character brings readers an unreliable point of view and this story about the roles she plays—literally in the theatre as an actress and also as a wife, friend, and maybe mother?—descends into delusion. At least that's what it felt like to me. The first half was fairly straight forward and then the second half begins and it contradicts the first. It is hard to know what was real and what wasn't. When I finished I was puzzled and it definitely went over my head a little. I nearly started it over, but decided that while deeper understanding could be achieved with a second read, I don't know that deeper enjoyment would accompany it. It held my attention and wasn't a bad read; it just wasn't perfectly suited to my taste.
