Devotions
This was lovely. I'd intended to read Oliver's poetry and/or essays for over a decade, but never knew where to start. I even borrowed Upstream on Libby a few years back, but never opened it on my Kindle. This compilation of much of her poetry was a great place to begin. I appreciated the way this was accessible while still asking big questions about life and beauty. I also read it with perfect timing as our family moved into a new home. I've been observing flowers bloom lately and recently downloaded the Merlin ID app (any birdwatchers out there?) and have been paying attention to the world around me. Focused attention and presence is so much of what lies here in Devotions. I loved it so much I purchased a copy of my own before finishing the library copy. I marked some of my favorite lines and entire poems, and I'm sure my copy will compete to become as worn and beloved as the library's in the coming years.
